TOM BASSETT

Tom is the CEO and founder of Bassett & Partners. Over the course of his 20 year career, he has interviewed over 5,000 people covering a broad range of categories and industries including sports, technology, gaming, fashion, cosmetics, entertainment, retail, aerospace, beverages, food, design, art and music. He has a background in brand strategy working at Wieden + Kennedy heading up strategic planning on Nike's global advertising, TBWA Chiat/Day on Apple, and Black Rocket on Yahoo! Since starting Bassett & Partners in October of 2003, he has worked closely with Nike (Innovation Kitchen, Tech Lab, Global Consumer Cultures, Key Global Categories), Microsoft (Entertainment & Devices Advanced Concept Design Studio), Motorola's Mobile Entertainment Team, Electronic Arts (Marketing & Advertising), PepsiCo (Mountain Dew & Quaker Oats), Jeep, Acura, Subway Restaurants, MNML/Scott Wilson Design, jeffstaple design and Harvard Business School. He is listed as a contributor to IDEO's book "I miss my pencil" published in 2009. Tom is equally comfortable interviewing teenage basketball players in the inner city as he is with famous photographer Harry Benson. In September of 2008, he founded the Internet company, MindSwarms; the site is paid webcam Q&A. Clients including Levi's, VW, Mini, Nike and Microsoft have used MindSwarms to conduct studies in the US, Europe, Asia and Latin America. Tom speaks fluent French, and broken Italian. Tom lives with his wife, Jade, his son, Kai, and their two dogs - Wile E and Tink - in Mill Valley, CA.
